Carpathian Culinary Heritage Network launches the transborder competition of culinary proficiency for educational institutions of Carpathian regions. The event will take place on November 29-30th, 2013, in Technical School of Restaurant Service and Tourism of National University of Food Technologies in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine.

The main goals of the The Carpathian Culinary Heritage Competition are to promote the potential of traditional cuisine for hotel, restaurant and tourism industries; to identify and demonstrate the students’ skills and their professional potential as future employees in the gastronomic and tourism sectors, as well as the level of practical experience, mastership and professionalism of their teachers.

The event programme will include a competition among students and educators on culinary mastery, a competition on traditional restaurant management, and a competition on the best gastronomic tour, based on local culinary traditions, culinary master-classes, presentations and shows.

Individuals eligible for participating in the contest may represent educational institutions that train restaurant and tourism professionals in Ivano-Frankivsk region (Ukraine), Satu Mare and Maramures Counties (Romania), Kosice region (Slovakia), and Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg (Hungary).

The competitions will be judged by top managers of famous restaurants, educators, organic food producers, professional equipment suppliers and well-known tour operators/ travel agencies. The competition winners in each category shall be awarded with special prizes.

The event will be conducted within the frames of the project “Carpathians Culinary Heritage Network” implemented in Ivano-Frankivsk Region in Ukraine, Maramures and Satu Mare Counties in Romania, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County in Hungary and Kosice Region in Slovakia and co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine ENPI Cross-border Cooperation Programme 2007-2013.

Main project implementing partners are the Tourist Association of Ivano-Frankivsk Region and Ivano-Frankivsk City Council from Ukraine, Association “EcoLogic” and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Satu Mare County from Romania, Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry from Slovakia and Szamos-bazár Association from Hungary. Associate partners to the Action are Technical University Cluj Napoca - North University Center Baia Mare, Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration and European Culinary Heritage Network with its main office in Sweden.

The Carpathian Culinary Heritage Competition will be the main networking event promoting the role and importance of culinary traditions amongst young people, employers and education sector.

This event aims to launch the contest and pperformance tradition popularizing the local culinary heritage between educational institutions of Ukrainian and European countries across Carpathians.
